ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) amended the petroleum sales tax rates on Monday.
According to a revenue board SRO, the sales tax on high-speed diesel has been reduced from 17 percent to 11.64 percent.
Meanwhile, the sales tax on petrol has remained unchanged at 10.54 percent.
The FBR also announced that the sales tax on kerosene and light-diesel would remain unchanged at 6.70 percent and 0.20 percent, respectively.
The government raised the price of petrol by Rs5 last week, citing “variations in petroleum costs in the international market and currency rate variation.”
Petrol is now available at Rs123.30 per litre, up Rs5, while high-speed diesel is now available at Rs120.04 per litre, up Rs5.01.
Furthermore, the price of kerosene has increased by Rs5.46 to Rs96.26 per litre, while light diesel oil has increased by Rs5.92 to Rs90.69 per litre.
