ISLAMABAD: Ramiz Raja, a former Pakistan cricketer and famous commentator, has accepted the PCB Chairmanship.

“We want to reset Pakistan cricket’s GPS and pursue greatness,” Ramiz Raja told the publication.

The decision was taken today, according Cricbuzz. Three days before, he told the publication, “I informed Imran Khan my intentions. He’ll call.”

Raja told Geo News he was informed of his new board by the PM’s office.

His intentions for PCB were detailed at a news conference he would hold after being chosen by the board of governors as the organization’s new chairman.

Mani resigns as PCB chairman
Ehsan Mani stepped down as PCB chairman on Thursday, days after meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan, the PCB’s patron-in-chief.

Mani stated to Geo News that he no longer want to serve as PCB chairman.

When asked whether he had a candidate in mind for the coveted post, he said the Prime Minister’s Office will announce it.

In response to another query, Mani stated he did not want to continue as PCB chairman. The outgoing PCB chairman hung up the phone, claiming he had spoken enough.

According to reports, PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan has been appointed as chairman pro tempore.

On August 24, a senior official informed Geo News that Ehsan Mani will likely be re-elected as PCB chairman.
After media rumours that the PM was contemplating naming former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja as PCB chairman,

According to The News, Mani will likely stay on the PCB Governing Board and run for re-election as chairman.

Sources close to the development think Raja will remain the chairman’s deputy for a short time before a change occurs.

Mani and former Pakistan Test captain Raja met with PM Imran Khan on Monday to discuss the cricket board’s future.

Mani was the first to contact PM Imran Khan, the board’s sponsor. Ramiz also briefly met the Premier.

The prime is expected to approve Mani and Ramiz as PCB Governing Board members for the next three years.

“There is a high possibility Mani will stay on the Governing Board and run for re-election as chairman,” said a PM House insider. But will he be able to finish his second term?”

The News also interviewed Mani at a nearby hotel after his meeting with PM. “I cannot discuss anything with you. According to Mani, PM House would make any comment about the meeting.
