According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Russian President afghanistan Putin called Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday to discuss the Afghan situation and bilateral ties.

Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan told Putin that a peaceful, safe, and stable Afghanistan was essential for the region. The best path ahead, he added, was an inclusive political solution that ensured Afghans’ safety.

The prime minister emphasised that the international community must remain involved in Afghanistan to help its people.

Prime Minister Khan said Pakistan valued the Troika Plus format’s significance. He praised the progress made in Pakistan-Russia ties, citing increasing high-level interactions and mutual collaboration in many areas.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing trade and bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, particularly the Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline Project. Together, they pledged to strengthen SCO cooperation on regional peace and security.

PM Khan welcomed Putin to Pakistan during their phone call.

Putin calls Xi Jinping, talks about avoiding “regional instability”

According to a Kremlin statement, Putin discussed with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping the need to prevent regional instability from spreading.

The two presidents “expressed their willingness to intensify cooperation to fight terrorism and drug trafficking emanating from Afghanistan,” the Kremlin stated.

Putin and Xi “decided to strengthen bilateral relations” and “make the most of the possibilities” of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting next month in Tajikistan.

Several former Soviet countries in Central Asia have borders with Afghanistan and China. While cautiously hopeful about the new Kabul government, Putin has warned of Afghan terrorists fleeing into neighbouring countries.

Jinping said China is willing to cooperate with Russia to expand cooperation on vaccine research and manufacturing, and guarantee the safety and stability of the global supply chain for vaccines, to safeguard both peoples’ lives and health, and help create a community of common health for humanity.

Only the user knows whether the shoes fit, Xi said, adding that the people of both countries have the greatest say in which system works best. As new age comprehensive strategic partners of coordination, China and Russia should strengthen cooperation against intervention and take control of their own national futures, Xi said.

He said China fully supports Russia’s efforts to maintain national sovereignty and security, and fully supports Russia’s development path.
