Haider Ali’s name began trending on Pakistani Twitter minutes after it was announced that he had won the gold medal in the discus throw.

Haider Ali won the gold medal in the Men’s Discus Throw category, hurling the discus 55.26 metres.
Ali’s throw was a personal best and three metres longer than the competition’s runner-up, Ukraine’s Mykola Zhabnyak.
Previously, Haider Ali participated in the Paralympic long jump, earning a silver medal in 2008 and a bronze medal in 2016.
