Ten Pakistani soldiers were martyred after terrorists attacked a security forces checkpoint in Balochistan’s Kish district, the army’s media affairs wing said on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the International Public Relations Agency (ISPR), the “fiery raid” was carried out by the terrorists on the night of January 25-26.

“During an intense exchange of fire, a terrorist was killed and several others were wounded. Ten soldiers were martyred while repelling the terrorists’ fire,” the statement said.

It added that three terrorists were arrested in the subsequent purge which it said is still underway to track down the perpetrators of the incident.

“The armed forces are determined to eliminate terrorists from our lands, whatever the cost,” the institute’s statement said.

Earlier this month, a Pakistani army soldier was martyred after terrorists attacked a military post in Janikhil in Bannu.

On January 5, two soldiers were martyred and several terrorists were killed in two separate Intelligence Operations (IBOs) carried out by the security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Last month, four soldiers of the Pakistan Army were martyred in a shootout with terrorists during Operation IBO in Mir Ali district of North Waziristan Tribal Region.
