Pakistan alarm bells as active cases of coronavirus reach 90,000 marks

On Tuesday, Pakistan reached the sad milestone of 90,000 active coronavirus infections.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan’s active coronavirus cases reached 91,046 today, with 4,075 new cases identified in the past 24 hours.

This is the largest number of active cases since April 29, when 91,547 individuals were infected.

On Monday, Pakistan tested 59,943 individuals for the virus, with 4,075 testing positive. The coronavirus positive rate has dropped from 7% to 6.79 % since Monday.

Pakistan reached 25,000 dead yesterday. In the last 24 hours, the virus has claimed 91 lives, increasing the total to 25,094.

The total number of cases is now 1,131,659, with 1,015,519 recovered.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic, Pakistan’s number of critical cases has risen to 5,513, an increase of 123 in the past 24 hours.

According to the NCOC, 585,104 single doses of the vaccine were given on Monday, while 379,809 individuals received their second immunisation shot.

Pakistan has already given 46,456,077 doses of the vaccination.
